Hello & Welcome to Lawyer’s Winterbrook Farm, a portion of Winterbrook Farm’s 327 acre operation!
Winterbrook Farms is a 327 acre farming operation that produces thousands of bales of hay and supplies local horse farms weekly. The first time the farm opened up to the public was in 2000 featuring the first corn maze in the area. It was cut by Jan Lawyer using a skid loader and had a completely unique design. In 2001 Jan decided to hire Mazeplay to cut a design that would incorporate a map and checkpoints. This added to the “fun” of getting lost in the corn field.
On December 15, 2013, Jan Lawyer passed away after fighting a tough battle against Brain Cancer. Although he endured several surgeries, a few rounds of chemo and radiation for just about 2 years, Jan still worked on the farms and enjoyed every day he could. He was the creative mastermind that is the reason Lawyer’s Winterbrook Farm exists today.
Jan’s daughter Taylor Huffman and her husband Brandon are the current owners and operators of Lawyer’s Winterbrook Farm. Brandon and Taylor enjoy spending time together working on the farms. Taylor is a local Realtor and a member of the Maryland Agricultural Commission. Daily activities include feeding the farm animals, real estate appointments for Taylor, harvesting the hay fields, delivering hay, and of course, creating and building new activities for the fall festival. A farmer’s work is never complete!
Taylor & Brandon are very happy that they are able to continue Jan’s passion for farming as well as his love for inviting the public to experience a fun-filled day on the farm. Each year it is also made possible with the support of family, friends, and great employees.
We hope you are able to visit our farm this fall!
